The 50% reduction in registration tax has been officially approved and now people who want to buy cars are enjoying `double` benefits.

Recently, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc agreed to reduce registration fees by 50% for domestically produced and assembled cars until the end of 2020. This reduction is not for vehicles imported from abroad.

This is a move to solve difficulties for production and business and stimulate domestic consumers in the context of gloomy auto sales due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Immediately after receiving this information, the car-interested user community appeared excited and happy because if they bought a car this time, they would not only receive a discount but also enjoy a significantly lower rolling fee than before.

The 50% reduction in registration tax is a practical solution previously proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to the Government, in order to increase the ability to recover production and business.

Accordingly, if the registration fee is being calculated at 12% in Hanoi or 10% in other provinces, now a 50% discount will help car buyers save tens of millions, or even thousands.

Examples of some `hot` car models sought after by many Vietnamese customers in Vietnam will have reduced registration fees as follows:

+ Mercedes Benz series costs from 1.39 billion VND to 4.6 billion VND, with old registration fee of 167-552 million VND.

+ Hyundai Accent: priced from 426 million VND, so the old registration fee is about 51 million VND.

+ Toyota Fortuner is priced from 1,033 billion VND, old registration fee is 124 million VND.

Thus, it can be said that customers can save at least tens of millions of VND with cars worth from a few hundred million VND to about 1.6 billion VND and hundreds of millions with cars priced from 1.7 billion VND or more.

Furthermore, dealers are also having attractive promotions and discounts for many car models.

In fact, the 50% reduction in registration fees does not affect the initial selling price of the car because this is a rolling fee after the customer has purchased the car.

In addition, a number of other issues were also requested by the Prime Minister to reach consensus among the ministries.
