Sinner, on the other hand, started the year-end championship with a comprehensive 6-4, 6-4 victory over sixth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Facing Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals, Sinner showed great bravery and won 6-3, 6-7(4) and 6-1 to reach the final of the ATP Finals, becoming the first Italian player to do so.

Djokovic leads 3-1 in head-to-head matches against Sinner.
