Frank Lampard has been appointed as Chelsea’s interim manager just two years after he was sacked by the Blues.
On the evening of April 6 (Vietnam time), Chelsea officially appointed coach Frank Lampard as interim coach until the end of the 2022/23 season.
A statement from chairman Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said: `We are delighted to welcome Frank back to Stamford Bridge. Frank is a Premier League Hall of Famer and a legend of this club.`
`As we continue the thorough and comprehensive process for a permanent head coach, we want to provide the club and fans with a clear and stable plan for the remainder of the season
`The team wants to give every chance of success and Frank has all the traits and qualities we need. Chelsea have an important game against Wolves on Saturday and then we will focus on the quarter-finals
`All members of the squad will be giving Frank their full support as we aim to achieve the best possible results from all our remaining matches.`
Lampard officially became Chelsea’s interim coach until the end of the season.
On his return, Lampard said: `This is my club. I have a lot of feelings for this place. I’m also a realist.`

`I am confident in myself, having worked with many players before. I understand what Chelsea fans want and I will try my best to give them what they want.`
The Blues legend also hinted at potential tweaks to the squad to face Wolves on Saturday, specifically in the case of Mason Mount.
Lampard added: `Mason has always been a great player for me. I personally know he’s had a few injury problems so it was important for me to talk to him about that and find out everything.`
`It’s great to see Mount and other players like Reece James, Tammy Abraham and Tomori go on and become big players here or elsewhere.`
Elsewhere, the Blues have held talks with Luis Enrique about their coaching bench.
Chelsea went through a dismal season, finishing only 11th in the Premier League rankings and being eliminated early in both domestic cups.
Lampard took charge of Chelsea in a context where the team was facing a crisis.
During his first spell in charge, Lampard led the Blues to fourth place despite a transfer ban and the decision to sell Eden Hazard.
Lampard won 44 of the 84 games he was in charge between July 2019 and January 2021 – drawing 15 and losing 25. The 44-year-old was replaced at Stamford Bridge by Thomas Tuchel, and then coached him.
