Harry Kane is currently very close to Wayne Rooney’s national team scoring record.

Harry Kane will miss the opportunity to surpass Wayne Rooney’s national scoring record if he does not play in the next matches.

Previously, Kane affirmed that he wanted to play in England’s next two matches in the Nations League, against opponents Italy and Hungary.

The captain of the Three Lions has now reached the milestone of scoring 50 goals after a successful penalty against Germany early yesterday morning, May 8. He is still 3 goals behind Rooney’s record of scoring the most goals for the national team.

Although he shared Southgate’s wishes, he wanted to see Tammy Abraham, the striker who is playing very well for AS Roma, on the field.

He also advised the Tottenham player that he `should rest`, having appeared in 60 matches this season.

Responding at a recent press conference, when asked about this issue, Southgate said:

“What I want to say here is that the team wants to take care of the interests of the players.

Southgate said he wanted to give the opportunity to play to other players in the squad, specifically Tammy Abraham

“The team needs something new compared to when we were in Germany.

“I’m not sure he will play in all four matches in this tournament (Nations League), because we still have Tammy (Abraham).

If he cannot play in the remaining matches, Harry Kane will miss the opportunity to surpass Rooney next June and have to wait until September, when the Nations League series returns before going to the 2022 World Cup.

Speaking about his desire to break the record, Kane admitted:

“I want to play every match possible.
