(Dan Tri) – The trade war launched by President Donald Trump is currently focusing on increasing taxes on goods imported from China.

According to Bloomberg, the US is seeking to prevent Beijing from accessing its key technology by restricting the export of important components to China’s leading telecommunications company, Huawei.

The above moves are part of a larger US effort to expand and strengthen export control policies that have been in place for decades.

The Trump administration’s move is also said to be a sign that the US-China trade war has developed into a larger-scale conflict around technology.

In closed meetings since last year, the US government is said to have discussed all aspects related to the technologies, and the possibility of applying them to bring about a military advantage, in order to finalize a list.

Tough-minded US officials have called for a broader and more comprehensive approach to all technologies deemed to pose risks that could fall into Chinese hands and disadvantage the US, such as artificial intelligence.

This is completely consistent with the Trump administration’s view that economic security is national security.

However, the above strategy also encountered mixed opinions.

In a letter to the Department of Commerce, Microsoft warned that these bans could isolate the United States from the international research community.

Meanwhile, GE believes that artificial intelligence is a very broad concept and defining it too general and vague in restrictions can affect the company’s research and innovation process.

Experts also say that balancing between protecting national interests while not isolating and affecting technological innovation is a `difficult` task.’
